Dawn and Tom Fincher credit much of the success of Fincher’s has been the result of being a part of the community. After 60 years in Goderich, Fincher’s continues to evolve and change to keep up with demand.

Tom Fincher and his siblings would have to come in extra early on Saturday mornings to prepare all the newspapers, because customers would be lined up to get a copy before the store even opened. When Dennis Fincher opened his store in Goderich’s downtown in 1956, it was a much different business; newspapers were the main source of keeping up to date on current affairs.

In 2016, 60 years after Fincher’s first opened in Goderich, there have been a number of changes to the store, but much has stayed the same over the past six decades. Long gone are the days when Tom would have to stand on a pop crate to reach the cash register, but he’s still hard at work as the current owner. Tom was joined at the store by his wife Dawn, after they were married, and together they have continued the Fincher’s legacy. Tom and Dawn work together, and trust plays a big role in how they run the business.
